Aviator breathing oxygen is consumed at altitude, where any contaminant carries directly into the pilot's supply. After nearly seven years of engineering development, ASTG was selected by the U.S. Air Force for its worldwide ABO Sampling and Analysis Program, supporting the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Army. The AirBreather ABO system combines FTIR, speed-of-sound and ultrasonic oxygen detection to resolve oxygen purity to better than 99.9%.

Sampling that ships as non-hazardous

The constraint on a worldwide program is not the analysis, it is getting the sample to the analyzer. ASTG's patented low-pressure sampling phase-changes a liquid cryogenic sample into a low-pressure gas sample. That removes operator exposure to cryogenic temperatures and strips the hazardous-materials classification, so the sample ships as non-hazardous material, including to regions earlier systems could not reach.

Satellite propellant: xenon, krypton and rare gases

Electric propulsion runs on xenon and krypton, and both are costly enough that loading accuracy and propellant purity are commercial concerns as well as technical ones. Federal work is judged on the record as much as the reading. ABO results are electronically validated and verified, held under a 21 CFR Part 11 records module, and issued through the Secure COA certificate-of-analysis module, so a result can be produced years later in the form the agency expects.

Aerospace manufacturing runs on the same ultra-high-purity gases as a semiconductor fab, under quality systems that demand a record rather than a reading. The Gas Purity Monitoring System (GPMS) measures trace oxygen and moisture in hydrogen, nitrogen, helium and argon, and trace moisture in oxygen and carbon dioxide, using cavity ring-down spectrometers reporting through an on-board PLC to your facility monitoring system.

Where the requirement is continuous quality management rather than a single point, CQC and QMS gas monitoring systems analyze composition and purity continuously and alert on deviation.
